My name is Paul Ross and I have been a 2 pack a day smoker for over thirty years. My wife wants me to quit but I dont see what good quitting will do me. The damage is already done. My wife keeps on telling me its never too late to quit. Whos right?

You are both right, Mr. R. Chances are that all those years of smoking has done you some damage. But, even if you do have some damage from tobacco, there is still A LOT to gain from quitting. In fact, a lot of the damage begins to reverse itself when you do quit. For example, in twenty four hours after quitting, your chances of a heart attack decrease. After just a few days, food will taste and smell better. After a few weeks you will begin to breathe better and have more energy. After a few years, your chances of developing lung cancer drop by 50%. There are lots of other good reasons to quit as well. Think of the money you are going to save and the freedom you will gain. |
